Flow controller | Penstocks

As soils are increasingly waterproof, water flows must be controlled before discharging into the environment.

Techneau offers a range of flow controllers to deal with flows from 1.5 to 1000 l/s.

Why is it of interest to control water flow?

The attached diagram shows the regulation curves for a 45 mm dia. unit, and a flow controller, type RDF1020

The maximum flow is 8 l/s with a water head of 2 m.

We can see that, for a water head of 800 mm, the unit flow is 5.2 l/s only, which is 35% less than the expected flow!!!

At the same time, the RDF1020 flow controller provides a constant leakage flow of 8 l/s.

"... Note: Water flow can be considered as constant if it does not vary more than 10% in relation to the water head.
