Difference between the CE marking and the NF marking
CE MARKING
NF MARKING
CE marking is an obligatory European logo for all products subject to one or more European Directives.
The NF marking is a voluntary mark certifying quality for the purpose of differentiation.
CE marking shows that the products comply with the essential requirements of the "new approach" Directives, dealing in particular with the questions of safety, public health and consumer protection
NF marking guarantees that the requirements of quality, safety, reliability, suitability for the use described in the certification standards and regulations have been checked and comply.
CE is a mark permitting products to move freely around the entire European Economic Area
NF marking aims at responding to the key influencers and users' global expectation of quality (suitability for use, durability, performances, etc...)
Each directive describes the means of proving compliance with the essential requirements. Depending on the type of risks inherent in the products, the CE marking logo can therefore be affixed: - under the manufacturer's sole responsibility. - or after inspection by a third party and with proof of compliance (tests and initial examinations, control of manufacture, submission to quality assurance).
NF marking systematically implies the intervention of AFAQ AFNOR Certification - the independent and impartial certifying body - which verifies that the product to be certified complies and, at determined frequencies, inspects the product and the efficiency of the enterprise's quality organisation.
